Exe-Kiteboarders is run by kitesurfers for kitesurfers. The committee donate all their time for free, but there's no such thing as a free lunch, and the club is starting to incur some small costs, which need to be covered. Collectively, our voice is louder as a club. The more members we have, the better positioned we are to fight the threat of a kiteboarding ban in Exmouth.

Membership to Exe-Kiteboarders is a measly £10.00 per year payable on the 1st January. If you are just learning or you have just been slack and have not bothered to join before and missed this date then we will take the money on a pro-rata basis throughout the year. You can pay by cheque and send it to the above address or you can drop the form in with the cash to any of the shops, which sponsor us (Tad Shop, Edge Watersports and Waterfront Sports) and they will pass the money on.

You may ask why should I join? Well the reason we are all still sailing on the Exe Estuary is down to the time and dedication of the Exe-Kiteboarders committee in fighting a ban over the last two years, organising the Code of Conduct, having Risk Assessments carried out, meeting with local authorities, clubs and other water-user groups to put our argument across as to why we should be allowed to enjoy our sport without suffering any legislation.

We have managed ourselves well by forming a club, erecting signs, taking part in RNLI safety days and policing our own beach, all this has been done voluntarily but as things move on we have begun to incur small costs i.e. signs and the Exe-Kiteboarders website. The sponsorship helps but at the moment falls short. Therefore we ask for a small membership fee to help us continue to cover the basic costs.

What+Does+Membership+Get+Me%3FWhat+Does+Membership+Get+Me%3F

At present we try and hold an open meeting every 3 - 4 months to keep everyone informed as to what's been happening and everyone can have an update of events and incidents etc. Members are informed by e-mail so they can come along and have their say. We are looking to have an 'end of summer' bash to raise some money for the club and the local rescue services as well as the possibility of intermediate and advanced instruction days and club rash-vests so members are easily identified as local riders.

So for £10 we think you get value for money - just being able to ride at Exmouth is worth every penny!
